What to Expect
Friendly, helpful people will greet you as arrive through the covered entrance facing University Dr. Here you can register kids for our Journey Land children’s Sunday School; enjoy a cup of hot coffee; or find out more about what’s happening on Sunday at UCC. As worship time approaches, a congregation member will show you the way to the Sanctuary. There are signs to guide the way as well. Our Sanctuary is rich in imagery from the ornate stained glass windows, to the stately chancel and the magnificent pipe organ. The service begins with the ringing of our tower bells. The worship bulletin, provided as you enter the Sanctuary, will guide you through the worship service from the opening hymn through communion, scripture lesson and message. The morning services worship with traditional hymns; red hymnals are located in every pew. As a congregation of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), we practice “open” communion; all followers of Christ are welcome to share in communion as the bread and cup are passed throughout the congregation. At the conclusion of the service, you’ll find helpful clergy—ready to answer any questions—at each of the doors as you exit the Sanctuary or you can join others who linger to enjoy the organ postlude.
