Beginning January 18, Rev. Jessica Vacketta will be away on Sabbatical. A ministerial sabbatical is a 3-month period of reflection and renewal following at least 5 years of full-time ministry in our congregation.

With the blessing of the Personnel Committee and the help of her Sabbatical Team (Chad Cline, Zena McAdams, and Stacy McCoy), Rev. Vacketta applied for and received a Clergy Renewal Grant from Lilly Endowment Inc.

Dr. Christopher Coble, the Endowment’s vice president for religion states, “Through these grants we seek to honor pastors for their extraordinary service and enable them to engage in a brief period of rest and renewal. We have learned that such experiences invigorate the leadership of pastors and bring new vitality to their congregations.”

Rev. Vacketta is starting her Sabbatical off by traveling to Disneyland with her sister and nieces; she will then spend two months in Costa Rica, followed by a retreat at Ghost Ranch in New Mexico, finishing her time away by visiting family in Illinois. JV will return to UCC the week after Easter.
